10 minutes with Jesus is a challenge for the entire church to read the Bible and pray for at least 10 minutes each day. By making prayer and Bible reading part of your daily routine, you will feel that your roots in our Lord Jesus Christ become deeper and strongerWhat are the benefits of staying connected to Jesus daily through prayer and Bible reading?
“22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” – Galatians 5:22-23
When we are connected with Jesus we develop the fruits of the spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-controlJesus in the gospel of John tells us why we should remain connected to Him:
“4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5 NLT
As you commit to praying and reading the Bible, you will constantly notice that you need more than 10 minutes a day, but if you are not used to praying and reading the Bible, 10 minutes a day is a good start. For those of you who pray more than This every day, add an extra 10 minutes to your current prayer time. How do I do it?
Find a quiet place. Take your Bible, a pen and paper, and put your phone on silent/airplane mode, try to eliminate all distractions and start a 5 minute timer twice. This will help you stay focused. Start reading the bible for 5 minutes, writing down anything that catches your attention (we suggest you start with the New Testament), and end your devotional time by praying for the remaining five minutes.
Have accepted the challenge
